Romania has fewer and fewer job openings. Nearly 5,000 jobs have disappeared in one year

In the second quarter of 2026, Romania saw a decline in job openings to 26,500, down 1,800 from the previous quarter and 4,900 from last year. The job vacancy rate also decreased to 0.52%. While some sectors still require workers, overall labor demand has diminished. The manufacturing sector had the highest number of vacancies, followed by public administration and healthcare. Notably, public administration experienced a significant drop in job openings compared to both the previous quarter and the same period last year. The highest vacancy rates were among specialists, while administrative staff saw the most significant declines in both vacancy rates and numbers.
