Over 500 researchers from 38 countries will gather in Bucharest for a major event on Syriac and Christian Arabic studies. The 14th World Congress on Syriac Studies and the 12th International Conference on Christian Arabic Studies will take place on August 3, 2026, at the Palace of Parliament. This is the first time these events are held in Eastern Europe, marking a significant moment for the field. The congress will focus on the urgency of preserving cultural heritage in conflict zones in the Middle East. Romania's role as a cultural mediator is emphasized through this event, promoting peace and dialogue internationally.
