România exportă inimi și salvează oameni din alte țări europene. Un medic explică paradoxul transplanturilor • Newsweek România
Romania paradoxically exports hearts while lacking local patients for transplants. Despite having available hearts, the country struggles with a shortage of compatible recipients. This situation has led to a decrease in heart transplant operations, with only seven performed this year, three at Floreasca Hospital. Medical professionals highlight the need for better patient preparation and compatibility to utilize available organs effectively. The country often sends hearts to other European nations, particularly Germany and France, when local demand is insufficient. Slovenia, with a smaller population, has a higher transplant rate due to better patient selection and preparation.
