Ireland and Romania are among the most generous countries in Europe, according to a recent report measuring donation rates and amounts. Romania ranked high in terms of the proportion of income donated, averaging 0.4%. Nearly 60% of Europeans donated to charity in 2025, with Ireland and the Netherlands leading in donations to organizations. While 67% of Irish people donated to charities, only 27% of Romanians did so. However, Romania topped the EU in total donations, averaging 0.9% of income. Europe overall is less generous compared to the global average, with 0.6% of income donated. The report highlights a strong link between community belonging and donation levels.
