Trade between Romania and Germany reached €21.4 billion in the first half of 2026, with Romania increasing imports but decreasing exports. German exports to Romania rose by 4.6%, while Romanian exports to Germany fell by 2.5%. This resulted in a trade deficit of approximately €2.4 billion for Romania. Despite the decline in Romanian exports, the country remains an important trading partner for Germany, ranking 17th in German export partners. AHK Romania anticipates slight growth in bilateral trade for the entire year, emphasizing the need for reforms and investments to sustain this trend.
