Romania experienced a record increase in construction works, rising by 39% in August 2026 compared to August 2025, according to Eurostat. This growth is the highest in the EU, alongside Hungary and Finland. While the EU average growth was only 2.6%, Romania's construction sector showed significant resilience, with notable increases in civil engineering and special construction works. In comparison to July 2026, Romania's construction output rose by 7.2%. The National Institute of Statistics corroborated these findings, reporting a 40.5% increase in construction volume year-on-year. Overall, the first eight months of 2026 also reflected a positive trend in construction activity.
