Romania's trade deficit reached 19.28 billion euros in the first seven months of 2026, slightly lower than the previous year. Exports increased by 3.1% to 58.27 billion euros, while imports rose by 2% to 77.55 billion euros. In July alone, the deficit was 2.82 billion euros, with exports at 9.25 billion euros and imports at 12.07 billion euros. The majority of trade involves machinery and transport equipment, making up significant portions of both exports and imports. Trade with EU countries remains dominant, accounting for over 70% of total trade.
