Romania aims to fully utilize a €500 million loan from the World Bank for healthcare reform, seeking to extend the withdrawal deadline to June 2027. The government is preparing an amendment to meet specific criteria for fund disbursement, focusing on digitalization, centralized procurement, and medical technology evaluation. So far, Romania has met 18 sub-indicators and drawn €425 million, with four remaining indicators to fulfill. The amendment allows for an additional year to complete these objectives, with potential funding for urgent medical supplies. The loan can also support budget deficit financing, emphasizing the need for timely reforms.
