Romania experienced the largest economic decline in the EU, with a 2% drop in GDP in Q2 2026 compared to the previous year. This decline is the most significant among EU countries, while Ireland reported a smaller decrease of 0.4%. In contrast, several countries, including Ireland and Slovenia, saw economic growth during the same period. The Eurozone and EU overall experienced growth of 1.2% and 1.4%, respectively, compared to the previous year. Employment figures showed a slight increase in the EU, but Romania reported a decline in hours worked, alongside other countries like Finland and Greece.
