Romania's corn production is expected to increase by 20% compared to last season, while sunflower production may rise by 64% over 2025/26 levels, according to AgriPortal's independent assessment. Corn production for the 2026/27 season is projected at 8.67 million tons, with productivity up by 34%. Sunflower output is estimated at 3.06 million tons, also reflecting a 34% increase in yield. However, the overall production recovery is constrained by a reduction in cultivated area, which is expected to be over 10% lower than the 1.90 million hectares assessed for 2025/26. Despite this, the field assessments indicate a strong recovery in corn productivity after several challenging seasons, although regional differences remain significant.
