Romania currently has the highest electricity prices in Europe despite its potential for lower costs, according to E.ON Romania's CEO, Volker Raffel. He emphasized the need for significant investments to reduce electricity prices and called for a fully empowered government to facilitate these changes. Raffel mentioned that while Romania's electricity prices are around 30 cents per kWh, they remain high relative to purchasing power. He indicated that a forthcoming study will outline necessary investments in renewable energy and infrastructure. Additionally, he noted that Romania's gas production is expected to double next year, allowing for potential exports and economic growth. Raffel expressed hope for a government that can address these urgent investment needs and promote energy efficiency programs.
