Romania's highway and express road network will expand to 1,430 kilometers with the opening of the Zimbor - Poarta Salajului section of A3 on August 11, 2026. Additional sections of A7 and A1 may also open by the end of August, potentially increasing the total to 1,487 kilometers. Officials aim for 250 kilometers of new highways by 2026, with significant progress on the A7 and A0 projects. Last year, 146 kilometers were added, bringing the total to 1,418 kilometers.
