Retail sales in the Eurozone and the EU increased in July 2026 compared to July 2025, but Romania experienced the largest decline in sales. Eurostat reported a 0.6% rise in Eurozone sales and a 1% increase in the EU. However, Romania saw a 5.7% drop in annual sales, alongside declines in Germany, Italy, and Spain. Month-on-month, retail sales fell by 0.6% in the Eurozone and 0.4% in the EU. Notably, Latvia, Cyprus, and Luxembourg recorded significant sales growth. In the first seven months of 2026, Romania's retail turnover decreased by 5.7% compared to the same period in 2025, with declines across various product categories.
