Romanian grain exporters have started the 2026/2027 commercial year strongly, with over 30% increase in sales outside the EU compared to last year. In the first ten weeks, Romania exported over 2.5 million tons of common wheat, leading the EU market. The country also exported more than 1.2 million tons of barley, maintaining a slight increase. Major export destinations include Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Nigeria. Romania remains the largest European grain exporter for the second consecutive year, significantly surpassing other EU countries in wheat and corn exports.
