România a importat sâmbătă seară aproape 3.400 MW, mai mult decât toată producția de energie electrică a țării

On October 3, electricity imports exceeded national production, raising concerns about the stability of the energy system. The lack of hydroelectric power and the shutdown of the Cernavodă nuclear plant contributed to this situation. At the same time, wind and solar energy resources were minimal, leading to a reliance on imports that approached interconnection limits. Despite high market prices, domestic thermal power generation was insufficient, with gas and coal plants operating below capacity. This scenario highlights vulnerabilities in the national energy system, especially during peak evening consumption periods.
