Romania's trade deficit decreased by 2% in the first half of 2026, driven by increased exports, particularly in machinery and transport equipment. The trade balance recorded a deficit of 16.459 billion euros, with exports rising by 3% and imports by 1.7% compared to the previous year. In June 2026, exports reached 8.701 billion euros, while imports totaled 11.662 billion euros, resulting in a deficit of 2.961 billion euros. Intra-EU trade accounted for a significant portion of both exports and imports, highlighting Romania's integration into the European market.
