România a depășit pragul de 60% din PIB la datoria publică. Cristian Socol: În ultimul an, datoria a crescut cu aproape 5.000 de lei pe secundă

Romania's public debt has surpassed 60% of GDP for the first time, reaching 60.1% according to Eurostat. This increase of 158.3 billion lei in one year raises concerns about fiscal sustainability and compliance with EU regulations. Economist Cristian Socol highlighted the implications of this threshold, indicating stricter monitoring and the need for Romania to adhere to its budgetary commitments. The National Budgetary Structural Plan 2025-2031 outlines measures to reduce the deficit and manage debt growth. Socol noted that existing measures include freezing public sector salaries and social assistance, impacting vulnerable populations. Romania is already under excessive deficit procedures, intensifying pressure to meet EU obligations.
