Maria Săceanu, a 24-year-old Romanian woman, was murdered by British student Benjamin Day, who was obsessed with the show "Dexter." Day lured her to an Airbnb where he had set up a room inspired by the series. He stabbed her 78 times and attempted to dismember her body. Maria's cousin expressed deep sorrow over the loss and hopes Day suffers from guilt for the rest of his life. The court learned that Day had contacted Maria through a website and had no evidence of sexual contact. After the murder, he injured himself while trying to dispose of her body and was later arrested. Day claimed self-defense, stating Maria attacked him upon seeing the room. The verdict is expected in December.
