The scheme began in January 2022 in Brussels, where the victim, a retired guitar teacher, was manipulated into giving large sums of money and co-owning a property. The court found that the woman had orchestrated a deceptive relationship, exploiting the man's emotional vulnerability. She convinced him to transfer significant amounts of money under false pretenses, claiming her mother needed a house in Romania. Additionally, she accessed his bank card without consent, withdrawing €21,770. The court concluded that the victim's emotional needs were exploited, leading to substantial financial loss.
