Rheinmetall cumpără șantierul naval Mangalia

Damen Mangalia shipyard has been acquired by German defense giant Rheinmetall for €138 million, following failed auctions. This acquisition is significant for Romania as the shipyard will construct four military vessels under the European SAFE program. However, concerns arise regarding the revival of production and fulfillment of contractual obligations. The shipyard had previously declared bankruptcy and faced significant debts, leading to the dismissal of over 1,000 employees. Rheinmetall's interest in the acquisition aligns with its existing military contracts in Romania, valued at approximately €5.6 billion. Despite the potential benefits, the company has faced criticism for delays in delivering military equipment, raising questions about its capacity to manage multiple projects effectively.
