Rezultatele surprinzătoare ale unui studiu efectuat în Coreea de Sud. „Sunt chiar mai dăunătoare pentru mediu”
A recent South Korean study revealed that paper straws may be more harmful to the environment than plastic ones, raising concerns about the country's efforts to replace plastic. The research, commissioned by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, assessed various straw types across 16 environmental impact categories. Standard plastic straws showed the least impact in ten categories, while paper straws had a significantly higher carcinogenic impact and contributed more to acidification. The study also highlighted the recycling challenges for paper straws, which are often not processed effectively. Public sentiment reflects this, with a survey indicating that 87.5% of South Koreans prefer plastic straws. Reusable stainless steel or silicone straws are suggested as alternatives.
