Reuters: Petrolier din „flota fantomă” a Rusiei, suspectat că a provocat o deversare de petrol în largul coastelor Omanului
A potential oil spill has been detected in a protected marine area off Oman, linked to a Russian tanker previously involved in oil transport. Satellite images captured between July 2-13 show a slick near Al-Qibliyyah Island. Experts believe the images indicate a leak, with the Caroline Bezengi tanker being in the vicinity. This vessel had loaded oil in Novorossiisk and last transmitted its position near Yemen on June 11. The tanker reported technical issues on June 8, and while a leak has been confirmed, the cause remains unknown. The Caroline Bezengi is under EU and UK sanctions for transporting Russian oil, highlighting Russia's use of older vessels to bypass Western sanctions.
