Rețeaua electrică poate bloca investițiile AI în România

Romania has the potential to become a regional hub for artificial intelligence and supercomputing, attracting billions in investments. However, this opportunity may be lost if the electrical grid is not modernized quickly enough to support the rising energy demands of data centers. Foreign direct investments reached €8.1 billion in 2025, with significant AI infrastructure projects underway. The AI Zone project alone requires a power capacity eight times greater than the current installed capacity in Romania. While Romania benefits from a diverse energy mix, the pace of grid modernization is crucial for attracting investors. The country must invest in energy, research, and digital infrastructure to capitalize on these opportunities and avoid becoming merely an outsourcing provider.
