Republica Moldova s-a abținut la votul ONU privind noua hartă a lumii. MAE de la Chișinău explică motivul
Last week, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution advocating for a gradual shift from the Mercator projection to more accurate maps. This decision faced criticism from Ukraine, as the new map depicted Crimea as separate from Ukraine. Moldova abstained from the vote, while Romania supported the resolution. The resolution aims to correct historical distortions in map representations, particularly regarding Africa's size. Although the resolution was passed, it does not mandate an immediate end to the use of the Mercator projection, as such resolutions are non-binding.
