The Moldovan government plans to propose a state of emergency in the energy and hydrological sectors for 60 days starting September 26. This preventive measure aims to enable rapid intervention in case of disruptions in energy, fuel, and water supply due to regional risks and severe hydrological deficits. The current alert states in these sectors will expire on September 25, but risks persist, especially with winter approaching. Moldova will need to import about 59% of its electricity this winter, and while natural gas supplies are secured, price fluctuations pose financial risks. The emergency state will allow authorities to implement temporary measures to maintain energy and fuel supplies and protect consumers. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan emphasized the need for increased support for households during the winter season.
