Regulamentul european privind ambalajele se aplică în România

The European packaging regulation will be applicable in Romania from August 12, 2026, but there is no estimate of affected companies, according to CONAF. This lack of data complicates the assessment of compliance costs for the economy, especially for small businesses. The regulation introduces sustainability requirements that vary based on the economic operator's role. CONAF highlights that while Romania has nearly 1.8 million active economic entities, not all will be affected by the regulation. They call for the Ministry of Environment to publish a national framework guide and for relevant authorities to estimate the number of impacted operators by size. Additionally, they suggest prioritizing guidance for micro-enterprises in the first year before imposing penalties.
