The EU's AI Regulation will be implemented by member states, including Romania, starting August 2, 2025, with specific exceptions. ANCOM is proposed as the national authority for market supervision. The regulation outlines the responsibilities of designated authorities and the penalties for non-compliance. Certain obligations for high-risk AI systems will take effect later, with some prohibitions starting February 2, 2025. New categories of banned practices will be introduced by December 2, 2026, targeting AI systems that create or alter explicit content without consent. Providers and implementers of AI systems will have specific obligations regarding content generation.
