Regiunile care hrănesc România
Romanian agriculture is increasingly integrating local products into major retail chains, yet it remains heavily reliant on imports. The country has 232 recognized producer groups, with Călărași leading in cereal production. While poultry production meets domestic demand, pork production is significantly impacted by African swine fever, leading to over 80% of pork being imported. Local cooperatives are forming to support farmers, but challenges persist, including limited access to markets and infrastructure issues. Retailers are focusing on local suppliers to enhance their offerings and differentiate themselves in a competitive market, with initiatives to simplify procurement processes for small producers.
