Queen Suthida of Thailand made her solo flight in a JAS-39C Gripen fighter jet on October 8, marking a historic achievement as the first reigning queen to pilot a fighter aircraft. The flight took place from the Royal Thai Air Force's Squadron 7 in Surat Thani, following her military training. King Maha Vajiralongkorn observed the flight and presented her with flowers and a gold insignia. Suthida has extensive flying experience, having logged over 1,188 flight hours and holds qualifications for various aircraft, including commercial jets. Thailand operates 12 Gripen C/D fighter jets acquired from Sweden, which have seen combat in past conflicts.
