King Haakon VIII was sworn in before the Norwegian Parliament following the death of his father, King Harald V. The ceremony lasted 17 minutes and was attended by family members. Norway has not held royal coronations since 1908, and Haakon may opt for a blessing ceremony later. Public support for the monarchy remains high at 72%.
