The fine, the largest ever in the EU for such violations, was contested in court, leading to a ruling by the Bucharest Court of Appeal in September 2026 that invalidated both the fine and the investigation report. The legal team, led by Mihnea Galgoțiu-Săraru and Alina Stan, emphasized the importance of judicial oversight in sanction cases.
