The Ministry of Finance has decided to maintain a temporary 25% reduction in the excise duty on standard diesel for the period of October 1-15, 2026. This decision follows a bi-monthly evaluation as per Law no. 162/2026. The measure aims to address ongoing pressures in the fuel market and is based on international price fluctuations. The excise reduction translates to a decrease of 701.07 lei per 1,000 liters. The effective excise duty will remain at 2,103.22 lei per 1,000 liters during this period. The ministry will continue to monitor international prices and their impact on the economy.
