Redactorul-șef al Novaia Gazeta, bastion al presei independente din Rusia, a fost arestat la Moscova
Serghei Sokolov, editor-in-chief of the independent Russian newspaper Novaia Gazeta, was arrested in Moscow following a search of his home. The publication, labeled as a "foreign agent" by Russian authorities, lost contact with Sokolov before a scheduled editorial meeting. An attorney is on the way to assist him. Novaia Gazeta has faced scrutiny for its human rights investigations, and Sokolov had previously been arrested in 2024 for "discrediting the armed forces." The newspaper's operations have been restricted since the onset of military censorship in Russia, but it continues to exist online.
