Record trist pentru România și pentru Petrom – producția de petrol și gaze a scăzut sub un prag istoric - Economica.net

For the first time in its history, OMV Petrom's oil and gas production has fallen below 100,000 barrels per day, reaching 98,800 barrels per day. This decline marks a significant milestone for the largest oil and gas producer in Southeast Europe. The production drop occurred in the third quarter of this year, continuing a long-term trend of decreasing output. Despite investments in exploration, the natural decline of Romania's oil fields has not been offset by new discoveries. The company aims to limit annual production decline to a maximum of 5%. Additionally, the Neptun Deep project in the Black Sea is expected to start gas production in 2027, potentially increasing Petrom's output by 70,000 barrels per day, although this will not address the ongoing depletion of oil resources.
