Record pe Autostrada Transilvania: aproape 100 km ar putea fi deschiși circulației în 2026
The Transylvania Highway may see a significant milestone in 2026 with nearly 100 kilometers opened, contingent on the completion of the Chiribiș-Biharia section. This 28.55-kilometer stretch is currently 80% complete and is expected to be inaugurated in December, ahead of the May 2027 deadline. Over 500 workers and 400 machines are on-site, with 90% of the asphalt already laid. If all planned openings occur, the total for 2026 could reach approximately 97 kilometers, contributing to Romania's growing highway network. The project has faced delays since its inception in 2004, with multiple contractors involved before the current team, Precon Transilvania and Citadina 98, took over.
