China has set a new world record in rail transport with a maglev train reaching 800 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. This achievement brings the prototype close to passenger aircraft cruising speeds. The test took place in Hubei province, where the train was launched on a one-kilometer track. Although impressive, the train is not intended for passenger transport but serves as a testing platform for advanced technologies. This marks the third time in six months that the prototype has broken the world record for short-distance acceleration of maglev trains.
