On Wednesday, 781 migrants crossed the English Channel in small boats, setting a new daily record for 2026. This surpasses the previous record of 752 set in late July. Despite this spike, total crossings this year are down by about 45% compared to last year. Since the beginning of 2026, 18,565 migrants have arrived in the UK via small boats.
