The average private pension stabilized around 41,000 lei, reflecting a significant increase due to changes in payment structures. Currently, about 8.5 million employees contribute to the private pension system, which was established in 2008. In the first half of 2026, payments totaling approximately 1.73 billion lei were made, with 57% opting for lump-sum payments. A new pension payment law will take effect in January 2027, allowing for monthly payments equivalent to the minimum state pension.
