Energy Ministry official Cristian Bușoi stated that the hydrological forecast shows no significant improvement, making safe operation impossible. The shutdown has temporarily reduced Romania's nuclear energy production, but the national energy system remains stable. Both reactors were shut down due to the Danube's low flow, with Unit 1 disconnected since July 28, 2026, and Unit 2 since August 13, 2026. The reactors' restart depends on the Danube's water levels and cooling system safety conditions.
