Poland plans to build four underground hospitals to ensure medical service continuity during emergencies, with an investment of approximately 270 million zlotys. The facilities will be located in Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Włocławek, and Świecie, inspired by Finland's urban shelter system. They will feature operating rooms, independent energy and water sources, and air filtration systems. In emergencies, they will treat patients and protect medical staff, while serving civilian purposes during normal times. The initiative aims to enhance critical infrastructure resilience amid security concerns in Eastern Europe.
