The non-performing loan rate for companies has reached 5.6%, increasing by 1.1 percentage points since March 2025, with SMEs facing higher rates than corporations. Micro-enterprises have a non-performing rate of 7.2%, while small enterprises are at 7.1%, and corporations are below 5%. Loans backed by state guarantees show an even higher non-performing rate of 11.3%. Gabriela Folcuţ from the Romanian Banking Association highlighted the issue of undercapitalization among companies, which limits their access to European funds and bank loans. The banking system remains capable of financing the economy, with strong solvency and liquidity indicators, but maintaining financial stability is crucial.
