Romania has seen a significant increase in vacation package prices, rising by 11.9% in August 2026 compared to the previous year, according to Eurostat. This increase is nearly four times higher than the EU average of 3.2%. Only four EU countries experienced greater price hikes, with Belgium leading at 16.2%. In contrast, some countries like Estonia saw a decrease of 21.1% in vacation package prices. The overall inflation rate in the EU matched the 3.2% increase in vacation prices. Air travel costs have fluctuated, with a slight average decrease of 0.4% in the EU, while some countries experienced significant increases. Eurostat highlights the volatility in travel costs since 2025, particularly in air transport.
