He has been informed of his status as an accused in the investigation related to the replacement of a helicopter that crashed in Moldova. Arafat denies the allegations and refuses to resign, stating he has important work to do. He expressed concerns about systemic issues in the legal process and mentioned a potential tax liability of 8 million lei. Arafat, along with 16 others, was charged in April for complicity in contraband, linked to the improper importation of a helicopter as compensation for a 2016 incident. Prosecutors have seized his assets.
