The Romanian Army has adapted its tactics to intercept illegal Russian drones, achieving three consecutive interceptions recently. Defense Minister Radu Miruță stated that Romania has the best results among NATO's eastern flank countries in countering such threats. He confirmed that a downed drone was Russian and unauthorized in Romanian airspace. The Army continuously analyzes incidents to improve interception capabilities. Miruță emphasized that F-16s are not always deployed for drone alerts, as they are not specifically designed for such missions. He also mentioned that costs related to drone interceptions are confidential, but the safety of citizens is prioritized over expenses.
