The European Commission has introduced new regulations for end-of-life vehicles to enhance circularity and strategic autonomy in Europe, effective from August 13. The regulations aim to improve resource security, reduce waste, and promote recycling of valuable materials. Manufacturers are required to provide clear instructions for dismantling vehicles, and new mandatory targets for recycled plastic content are established. The measures will also increase the availability of second-hand parts and ensure proper waste treatment funding. Only roadworthy cars will be allowed for export outside the EU.
