This increase comes amid ongoing heavy losses for both Russia and Ukraine in the prolonged conflict. The total authorized strength of the Russian armed forces now stands at 2,441,630, including 1,550,500 military personnel. Additionally, Russia plans to significantly boost its military spending by 27% in 2027, allocating 17.1 trillion rubles for defense. The government has also revised its budget deficit estimates and plans to increase taxes to cover rising expenses.
