Putin cere Armeniei să aleagă între UE și Uniunea Eurasiatică

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a tense discussion regarding Armenia's intention to join the European Union, which Moscow views as incompatible with Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. This meeting occurred during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kyrgyzstan and was their first since Armenia's parliamentary elections won by Pashinyan's party. Putin emphasized that EU membership could jeopardize Armenia's status in the Eurasian Economic Union and called for a referendum on the matter. Pashinyan countered that a referendum was unnecessary, as Armenia had already declared its intention to pursue EU membership. The shift towards the West has strained relations between Yerevan and Moscow, leading to retaliatory measures from Russia despite their significant trade ties.
