In 2023, Făgăraș City Hall initiated a project to revitalize the city center and convert several streets into pedestrian areas, funded by a European grant obtained in 2015. Due to delays, the project was transferred to the Central Region Program 2021-2027. A contract worth 23,755 lei was signed for advertising the project, including the creation of permanent plaques and various stickers and maps. The urban regeneration project aims to significantly enhance the city center's appearance. However, the initial contractor's agreement was terminated in January 2026, leaving unfinished work. The city is now seeking a new contractor to complete the remaining tasks, estimated at 500,370 lei, which include street work and landscaping.
