Justice Minister David van Weel condemned the protest, describing it as "disgusting" and highlighting the use of Nazi salutes and anti-Semitic slogans. The local authorities had prohibited the march following violent incidents at Malieveld park, where the crowd was ordered to disperse. This unrest occurred a year after similar riots during a far-right demonstration, which resulted in a police car being set on fire.
