Tens of thousands protested in Spain against the government's handling of the humanitarian crisis in Ceuta, with significant demonstrations in major cities. In Madrid alone, around 50,000 people participated, expressing discontent towards Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and the situation of migrants. The crisis began in late July when approximately 72,000 individuals attempted to cross into Ceuta, resulting in at least 90 deaths. While many migrants have been sent back, around 5,000 remain, straining local resources. Local authorities criticized the central government for ignoring warning signs, framing the situation as a violation of Spain's territorial integrity. The protests were organized by a municipal federation but heavily promoted by conservative parties, raising concerns about political motivations behind the demonstrations.
